Finished up our time in Melbourne checking out the laneways and looking at the lights of the city as we walked along the Southbank Promenade before enjoying a dinner of burgers at Royal Stacks. π The next day the weather got better the further south we drove and by the time we got to the 12 apostles we had plenty of sunshine. Spent the night in the gorgeous little town of Port Campbell. Really love being close enough to the ocean to hear the waves crashing as we sleep π€ With the knowledge of aurora australis (southern lights) being potentially visible over the next night or two we set the alarm for 3am and got to see a beautiful night sky full of stars and a nearly full moon but nothing else. Will try again tonight… maybe π΄

Two weeks into our trip!
2000kms driven, 8 fish caught, (0 big enough to keep so 0 fish eaten π’) 7 campsites/caravan parks stayed at. Too busy taking photos of everything else in Bright to remember to get a shot of our camp set up π

Enjoyed riding the trams today. First we checked out the Docklands area and then headed to St Kilda. As big fans of “The Block” we wanted to have a real life look at last year’s build- The Gatwick. We then checked online and found this season’s Block was happening only 400m around the corner. The front of the building didn’t seem to have much action so we thought maybe the contestants were off doing a challenge somewhere. Then we noticed a truck loaded with timber go around the corner and discovered all the action was happening around the back! Won’t include any photos as we don’t want to spoil anyone’s “Block journey” but we got to go right up to where building/filming was taking place. We saw Dan hanging around and Keith and one of the contestants filming what looked like a making up after a disagreement scene. If past seasons are any indication probably not the only time a scene like that happened π

6 hour drive down from the mountains to the Prom meant the kids were well napped by the time we arrived! Emma was a little surprised (scared frozen π³) by how welcoming the local rosellas were. Knowing bad weather was forecast Michelle, Emma and I took advantage of the nice morning to complete a beautiful hike checking out Pillar Point and Squeaky Beach. James took advantage of staying back at camp and reading π
The storm arrived which meant we had no option but to retire to the Motorhome and nap the afternoon away… as a famous Victorian once said, “such is life”.
Also good news- we finally got to add live wombats to our native animal count. Sadly all we have seen so far are dead ones along the road. They really are the cutest of creatures!

Left the coast and headed up the mountains where we had a lunch stop in the little town of Omeo. Who knew you could have a whole shop just selling cuckoo clocks? We then drove through the clouds at Mt Hotham and watched the temperature drop π₯Ά
A little bit of rain and cloudy weather can’t take away the beauty of Bright. We rugged up and headed out. Only a week ago there would be no way the kids would be brave enough to take the lead on a bushwalk, and they also spent their first night in the tent! Great to see them pushing their comfort zones. As you can see in the last photo their reward was getting to wear matching outfits π

You know youβre getting close to Victoria when more and more of the local footy fields have AFL posts. Today was our first border crossing as we left our home state of NSW behind. Lakes Entrance is the only place we’ve seen outside of Orlando, Florida to have 3 mini golf parks within 100 metres of each other! Also made the mistake of asking for a few scallops with our hot chips to be reminded they are called potato cakes here. How embarrassing π²

Laundry day. How dare reality get in the way of our adventures!

First National Park camping, first time paying for hot water in showers, first rainy morning, first no wifi experience π³ First night of cards, first cooking in the Motorhome, first possum freak out, first face to face with kangaroos. Good times!

A pleasant 3 hour drive out of Sydney down the coast to Culburra. Big thanks to Cruisin’ Motorhomes for the upgrade to the 6 berth deluxe model. Loved the USB and Bluetooth connection to play our music and the bigger fridge meant packing a smaller esky!
